Home Again

Hello All!

I'm back from the beautiful (-ish) city of Madrid. It wasn't very exciting so I'll share a few select, though random, details.

My hotel, was near Atocha (said as Ah-totcha). This means of course that it was across the road from the station that was targeted by the Al-Qaeda (?) on March 11th of this very same year. Although, most of the damage was contained inside the train and none was visible to me.

Atocha has a very interesting peculiarity, which is the highly abundant (and very tall) plants growing inside it.
Infact, it's like a mini rainforest. It gets plenty of light, has a little lake and loads and LOADs of Terapins (Turtles, that is).

I will now divert you attention back to my hotel, where my comfy room was equipped with an excellent BATHTUB! Wheee! Yes, I have one at home, but there's nothing like a hot bubble bath at 2am, in the privacy of your own little room with the CD of your choice playing soothingly in the background. For me, these CDs were:

* Franz Ferdinand (I'm so hooked on the song Micheal it's unhealthy. Oh, and it's not gay so shuddup)

* Rolling Stones (the Bridges to Babylon CD is okay but not much compared to the old classics)

* Macy Grey ('s On How Life is)
I recoment going to see it if you happen to be in Madrid.

And some others.

Breakfast
Oh yeah, I made that big so you'd see...
Was served outside in a heavely location (not) in a secluded garden thing type place. It was okay, I mean, it's a * * * * hotel so you expect some decent service I suppose, right? I don't have any complaits, only, the one time we had dinner there was a bit weak... no worries really, it was cheapish... for Madrid standards. The average meal was about 45Euros. Even McDonaldys is $ $ $ so hey, it's a lose, lose situation.

BACK to breakfast.
There were BEES there. Yes people. BEEEEEEEEEEES. Now, I'd be okay with this if;

A. They'd stay AWAY from me

B. Get OUT of my mother's hair (LITERALLY)

and C.......................

C is: If they'd lay off the HAM!

People. I have never seen such a thing in my life.

BEES ON HAM.

There were rows upon rows of Fruit, Cakes, Sweets and whatnots.... but they were on the HAM.

Friend, Family, Strangers... THIS:

  • Is ham.
Why would a bee want it?

    Let me think....

Oh yes... a FLY fell into my mother's beer in a highly chique restaurant, but my mother pulled it out and drank the beer anyway...

    I saw an (unknown) Actor
Of all places... in the Praça Mayor I saw this guy here, Ron Perlman:

I knew it was him cause he's so... unforgetable (...and rather unattractive).

  • Others

    Prado
    Reina Sofia
    Tyssen-Bornemisza

These are the 3 Museums in which a total of 15 hours was spent.
Add that to the 11 hours spent in NYC and Chicago and you get 26 (over a day!) hours of Paintings flashing through my eyes.

    I saw;

    and

    and

(you'll see me wearing a tshirt which IS this image... sleaves and all)

    AAAAAND

And a million others you'll not know.

I saw more Dali, Goya, Velazquez, El Greco, Bosch, Tissano, Raphael, and Picasso then I'll ever know. My feet were KILLING me.

It was AMAZING though. I'm going to see the TATE (london) next year, and the Louvre (soon) and then I'll never see another again... (unless forced to).

I'll tell you more about my trip later, if I can remember anything of Interest. I know there's something I'm missing, and it's not the fact I saw a Portuguese journalist (Cesario Borga) in the streets.

AND I'LL POST PHOTOS OF THE COOL CLOTHES I BOUGHT, TOO!
